Roadtrip to Norkfolk

We finally made it out of the apartment this weekend! Friday after work we left straight for Norfolk to visit my dad who was there for a few days for some (Army) training exercises.

I love going on Military bases. It makes me feel like a VIP! My dad showed us around all the big ships, aircraft carriers, warships, battleships, destroyers, etc. They were pretty impressive. There's nothing quite like a ship. Something about them just makes you proud; Proud of our guys (and gals!) out there protecting the waters and taking care of business. It makes me especially proud as I come from a long line of Naval service members.

While we were there, we made a little trip north to Virginia Beach. We wanted to check it out and put our hands in the ocean... just to say we did (success!) It was pretty dead because it's the off season but we ate a lot of seafood: salmon, oysters, mussels, shrimp, crab, lobster, the whole nine yards! It was beyond delicious. They had a pretty cool bar called "Abby Road Pub" - a Beatles tribute restaurant... touristy but worth a stop in if you're a Beatles fan! Wish we could have spent more time there. We'll have to head back when it's warmer.
